Baby shower cupcakes

These chocolate cupcakes were served along with the baby cake. These are decorated with some royal icing.

They look great, but I was wondering how hard did the icing go, being royal icing. There is a lot of icing there to bite into if it was hard. Woundn't want the icing get in the way of eating beautiful cake!!
