Almond bones ( ossa dei morti)

These are almond filled pastries. November is the month of the dead and these are shaped to symbolize dead. Also known in Italian 'Osso di morto'. These are found through the month of November. These consist of pastry filled with a mixture of ground almonds and decorated with some royal icing. I made about 150 so far and still receiving requests for these. Next year these will look much better since I just bought a bone shaped cookie cutter. They'll be all the same size and shape :)

I also made a huge bone (if you can call it like that) for my boyfriend. It still vanished in a few days. :)

These are fun little treats. I thought they were Halloween type leftovers, but I can have fun with bones anyday... its even job related for me :)
