Kwarezimal - Maltese biscuits

This is a traditional Maltese recipe. These are usually baked during lent. The word kwarezimal refers to quaresima, literally the quadragesima, the forty days of Lent. They are sort of spicy chewy biscuits. They combine a mixture of spices and ground almonds and then drizzled with honey and some chopped nuts. I think these are vegan too since there is no dairy products in them.:

WoW! I've never seen anything quite like this, but these biscuits sound fabulous. I'm always up for trying something new, and this seems like the perfect "branching out" recipe!

I have used the same recipe from the book and they came out really really nice. But to me they lacked that chewy texture which I have grown used to, to I added a teaspoon of glucose in the next batch and they turned out just just perpect to my liking.
I admire your blog and you have such lovely recipes.
I am making figolli today for a demo on Thursday.
