Draughts cake

This is a traditional almond torte. Very popular in Malta and I've already posted several ones. Sometimes this torte is made from ground almonds substitute obviously it's much cheaper and less tasty.I prefer the taste of pure ground almonds and only use those in my cakes and bakes.

I decorated this cake as draughts board made of sugar paste/fondant. Everything is edible except the cake board :)
